Female police end women’s month with an all female roadblock

WELTEVREDEN PARK - In celebration of women's month, Honeydew female police officers conduct an all female roadblock.

Honeydew female police officers ended Women’s Month on a high note. The officers conducted a roadblock on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Rhinoceros roads in Weltevreden Park.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs explained that it was one of their visibility operations and they held it as female officers are part of Women’s Month celebrations.

During the roadblock, police officers handed motorists safety tips pamphlets.

“We need to get the message out there to the people and let them know of the role they can play to fight crime.”

Jacobs highlighted that she was concerned that most motorists still leave their valuables on top of seats and that is what she picked up during the roadblock.

“I’m really surprised that people still leave laptops and tablets on top of seats, despite the awareness that we try to raise.”

She added that theft out of motor vehicles was still a concern in the Honeydew precinct.

Motorists were surprised to see only female officers at the road block.

“It’s something unusual but it’s nice to see that our female police can fight crime on their own,” said Dikeledi Khunou who was also stopped at the roadblock.

Among other things that the police checked was that vehicles had valid license disks and that drivers had their licences with them.
