Levels of unemployment in South Africa and the bleak future could make people look for business opportunities that are available for small businesses.
The Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo (Bofe) could be the first stop to look for entrepreneurship options at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate on 11to14 September.
Exhibitors at this business expo, which is presented in partnership with Eskom Foundation will, among other things, give guidance and insight into franchises that are available.
Exhibitors include Thebe Reed Exhibitions, Zhauns, and Pressed in Time, DIY Depot and the SA Franchise Warehouse will provide business information on franchise opportunities.
“The benefits of buying into a franchise or credible business opportunity include guidance, marketing support, economies of scale, training and association with a brand that has an existing track record. But franchise owners still risk failure if they go into the business unprepared,” explains Lynn Chamier, general manager of Thebe Reed Exhibitions.
Last year, the expo was attended by more than 8 000 people and among them were aspirant entrepreneurs, franchisers and business owners.
Leigh states that the expo is a platform for aspirant entrepreneurs and investors to explore business and franchise opportunities.
“Bofe is the platform to engage, and while a great deal of business is conducted on the show floor, it often takes time for visitors to do their research before starting a new business,” explains Leigh.
The Eskom Foundation will again run the Business Investment Competition (BIC) which was won by Khariye Poultry Farming in 2013.
BIC is only open to small black-owned business who operate in the manufacturing, agriculture of trade and services sector.
Tickets to the expo are free to those who pre-register online at www.bofe.co.za or people can buy tickets at the door at R40 per person.
