Dogs walk Lions and humans in Bryanston

BRYANSTON – Rescued dogs walk rugby players, deaf pupils and office employees.

Paws R Us rescued dogs walked Lions U21 rugby players and other humans at the Human Walking Event at The Campus business park in Bryanston on 28 August.

Member of Paws R Us Linda Grimmer explained that the event was to raise awareness of some of the issues dogs face such as dog fighting, lack of sterilisation and stereotypes against black dogs and pitbulls.

Some dogs were also adopted.

“This is a great awareness event,” said Lions U21 lock Lourens Erasmus, who came with his four-month-old German Shepherd Leo.

“I’ve learnt a lot of stuff that I didn’t know before, especially about German Shepherds. I learnt about dog fighting. I didn’t know about that in South Africa.”

Mamapudi Nkgadima, who works at the business park, said that the event was nice and had forced her and her colleagues to “get out of our hectic schedule”.

Pupils of St Vincent School for the Deaf also walked dogs. Other Lions U21 rugby players to attend were TJ Reynolds, Gideon Meiring, Daniel Arries, Quinton Terblanche and Vlam Bothma.
