RANDBURG – Court case of man accused of stabbing wife to death in Bryanston postponed.

The man accused of stabbing his wife to death in Bryanston, could not appear for his bail application at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 20 August, because he is currently in a Pietermaritzburg hospital under police guard.

The victim, whose name is known to the Randburg Sun, was found lying on a pavement in Peter Place in Bryanston on 16 August with approximately 50 stab wounds.

The suspect fled to Kwa-Zulu Natal, where he was later arrested in Pietermaritzburg on 19 August, Gauteng Provincial Police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng confirmed.

The 41-year-old accused apparently tried to commit suicide after stabbing his wife by overdosing on an unknown substance before being arrested.

The case has been postponed to 28 August.
