Kings School in Robin Hills hosted a friendly game between their support staff (Ground Stars) and their first team soccer players on 15 August. Ground Stars took to the field, fired up for the well-anticipated match. Thando Zulu, the first team’s soccer coach commented, “both teams have been eagerly waiting for the day to challenge each other, with the day finally here, it will be interesting to see who wins.”
The crowd was alive with vuvuzela toots and war cries from both teams’ supporters. Ground Stars tried their best to keep up with the much more fit first team, but to no avail. The game ended in a devastating loss of 5 – 0 to the first team. Despite the frequent substitutes from the first team, which to many seemed unfair, the game evoked a fun spirit in all who watched.
