Updated crime hotspots

Honeydew police divulged the latest information on crime hotspots in Honeydew Sector 1 at a public meeting in Boskruin on 11 August. Captain Jacques Pretorius told residents at The Barn Christian Fellowship that between April and June this year:

•  Rape mostly occurred in North Riding between 12am and 8am on Saturdays. Alcohol and walking home alone contributed to this.

•  House robberies mostly occurred in Randpark Ridge and Sundowner between 4pm and 8pm, and 12am and 4am on Thursdays and Fridays.

• Robberies with weapons mostly occurred in North Riding, Northwold and Randpark Ridge between 8am and 12pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.

•  Business robberies mostly occurred in Northgate, Northwold and Boskruin between 8am and 12am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

•  Common robberies mostly occurred in North Riding, Randpark Ridge and Sundowner between 4pm and 8pm on Mondays and Saturdays.

•  Assault with Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) mostly occurred in North Riding between 8am and 4pm on every day of the week except Sunday.

•  Common Assault mostly occurred in North Riding, Randpark Ridge and Northwold between 12pm and 8pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Alcohol, domestic violence and road rage contributed to this.

•  Residential burglaries mostly occurred in Randpark Ridge, North Riding and Bromhof between 8pm and 12am, and 6am and 12pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Insufficient security systems, sliding doors not being secured and neighbours not being aware of residents’ locations contributed to this.

•  Business burglaries mostly occurred in Randpark Ridge and North Riding between 6pm and 6am on Mondays and Thursdays.

•  Car jacking mostly occurred in Sonneglans and North Riding between 12pm and 4pm, and 8pm and 12am on Thursdays and Fridays.

•  Theft of motor vehicles mostly occurred in Northgate and Randpark Ridge between 4pm and 8pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

•  Theft out of motor vehicles mostly occurred in Randpark Ridge, North Riding and Northgate between 4pm and 8pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

No murders were reported during the period.

Areas in Honeydew Sector 1 include Boskruin, Bromhof, Bush Hill Estate Agricultural Holdings (AH), Glen Dayson AH, Hunter’s Hill AH, Kelly Ridge, Northhgate, North Riding, Northwold, Randpark Ridge, Sonneglans, Strijdom Park and Sundowner.
