Writers 2000 competition winners.

Writers off all area's come together for a prize giving at writers 2000.

A prize giving was held at the Writers 2000 Annual Writing Competition on 26 July.

The fiction category was judged by the training team of Allaboutwriting, author Joanne Richards and scriptwriter, Richard Beynon.

First prize went to Michelle Sachs and the runners-up are Burgie Ireland and Jill Jacques.

The back pager category was judged by award-winning journalist and trainer, Marion Scher.

First prize went to Geraldine Wilkins, second was Lorna Senior with May Geddes taking third place.

Porcupine Press director and author Dave Robbins did the honours for the non-fiction category.

Gillian Katz took first place in this category with Burgie Ireland in second and Geraldine Wilkins in third place. In the poetry section Duncan Stepto won first place with Lorna Senior in second and Jill Jacques in third place.

Writers 2000 hosts their meeting in Edenvale on the last Saturday of every month with residents coming from as far as Randburg.

Editor Joan Evans resident in Randpark Ridge says,”[meetings like this] help us develop an eye to spot where we can improve and learn to recognise what works and what does not, by reading the efforts of others. We are here to encourage and inspire and to practise the steps that will take us where we want to go.”
