Multichoice announced its new three-year partnership with Premier Soccer League (PSL) called MultiChoice Diski Challenge on 12 August.

It will focus on fast tracking the PSLs U19 talent into their first teams.

The challenge includes a round-robin league format and knockout phase for the 16 PSL teams and will also equip players with life and leadership development skills.

Players will also get an exposure to careers in broadcasting, by attending a one-week career conference at the Randburg Multichoice Campus.

The first festival weekend will be played in Kwa-Zulu Natal on 13 September, followed by a life skills workshop for players on

14 September and will run until March 2015.

“We want to make a real and lasting difference in South Africa,” said Imtiaz Patel, group CEO for Multichoice South Africa.

The winning team will receive a trophy and trip to Holland for a four-day training camp with the Royal Netherlands Football Association

and their top youth coaches, as well as a match against a top Dutch team.

The team will also play two friendly games in Germany, home of the FIFA World Cup Champions, against two top Bundesliga teams.

There will be 43 production interns that will get five fully-paid academic scholarships as well as experience on both the field

for live games, and Supersport’s weekly magazine production.

These internships aim to attract more females into the world of sport production, with 50 per cent of the interns being female.
