Zuma’s son a no show at Randburg Court

RANDBURG – Son of President Jacob Zuma does not show up in court for the inquest into the death of Jeanette Mashaba (30) who was involved in the accident on 1 February.

President Jacob Zuma’s son, Duduzane Zuma, was a no show at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 12 August.

The president’s son was involved in a road accident with a minibus taxi on Grayston Drive in Sandton on 1 February where Jeanette Mashaba (30) died as a result of the collision.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) media spokesperson Nathi Mncube, Zuma (31) did not show up at the court and the inquest was postponed to 22 August.

Mncube commented, “The formal inquest is to deduce if either driver of the cars [that were involved in the accident] had human error.”

He has also said the NPA, “Was disappointed that Zuma did not appear at the court.” Investigating officer, Jimmy Ngobeni, was asked to explain why a colleague of Zuma had been permitted to sign for the subpoena on 25 July. Magistrate Lalita Chetty said she would not be issuing a warrent for arrest for Zuma on the grounds that he may not have received the subpoena.

“The date for Zuma’s provisional appearance is 22 August and the inquest for both parties to attend will start between 14 October and 17 October at the Randburg Magistrates’ court.”
