Councillors donate to Kya Sand people

KYA SAND - Ward councillors and communities donate to fire victims in Kya Sand.

Councillors of Wards 96 and 115 joined forces and collected much-needed food,shoes and clothes for people in the Kya Sand settlements.

The donation was handed over by David Price, branch chairperson of Ward 96, Matome Mafokwane councillor of Ward 96, Chris Santana councillor of Ward 115 and others on 5 August.

Santana donated 500 pairs of shoes, clothes and blankets.

Residents in Ward 115 gave 230kgs of clothes, shoes and blankets to families of victims who were struck by devasting fire that left many of them homeless in Kya Sand.

“Thank you to all the donors of Ward 115 and councillor Chris Santana and his team for their goodwill and hard work,” says Price.

Graham Pearson, chairperson of Ward 115 thanks the people of his ward for their generosity and their kindness.” When we came up with this idea as a way to honour the leadership example of reconciliation and kindness shown by Nelson Mandela, we didn’t realise just how well the project would be supported by our community.”
