Fun run in aid of Honeydew CPF

WELTEVREDEN PARK - Care for a fun run in the sun? The Honeydew Community Policing Forum is hosting its second annual fun run.

The Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) is currently planning their second annual fun run that will prove to be a fun day out for the entire family.

Sector 2 CPF chairperson Neville Burnett said the previous run was a big success among residents, as it was affordable and the distance was short enough to invite the whole family along.

“Initially, we charged residents R5 and it was a huge success. But we decided to make the new entry fee R10, as it will be easier with giving residents change as it was a nightmare when it was R5. The fun run will take place on 30 August, which means that joggers still have time to prepare for the run,” said Burnett.

Ward 126 councillor Mike Tonkin said the day will be the perfect opportunity for residents to meet other people in their community and to soak up some Vitamin D.

“The fun run is perfect for the family because there is only one 5km distance that people can complete in their own time and there will be a couple of water points along the way to quench the thirst.”

Burnett said funds collected on the day will go toward the Honeydew CPF. “This CPF covers parts of Randburg and a big area of Roodepoort, and the extra funds will help them to look after the community a bit better and it will show them that the community is there to support them.”

He said that volunteers are still needed for the day and that if you are willing, you can give him a call and find out more about your duties on the day.
