We love Joburg…

JOBURG - Which is why we’ll be voting in the Leisure Options Best of Joburg Readers’ Choice Awards.

It’s no secret that when it comes to food, fashion, people and shopping, Jozi wins hands down … obviously. But, the real question is … who is the best of the best? And as we just hate picking favourites we need you, our dear readers, to pick for us.

This year’s Leisure Options Best of Joburg Readers’ Choice Awards is upon us, which means it’s time for you to make your mark and tell us who you reckon is a cut above the rest.

North Riding’s Pearl Thusi is one of the thousands of people who’ll be voting. When she’s not presenting on Live AMP, playing Palesa Motaung in Isidingo, hosting #TheBlackout on Metro FM (she also still co-hosts The Real Phat Joe Show), Pearl is working on a feature film. Sheesh … it’s no wonder she needs a caffeine fix once in a while. For a frothy, creamy cuppa, Pearl heads to Tasha’s in Morningside where she’s a regular. “There is also a little gem called Father Coffee in Braamfontein which I really love. It’s a roastery and espresso bar that makes amazing coffee and hot chocolate. I often go there with one of my besties who lives nearby before we venture to where we are going.”

It’s no secret that Pearl is one of Jozi’s fashion elite … and she isn’t the only stylish one in her household.

Her six-year-old daughter, Thandolwethu, is already giving Suri Cruise a run for her money.

So where do the trendiest tots shop?

“I love Keedo (it’s an online store). It’s the best place to buy high quality, fashionable kids’ clothing. I also love good old faithfuls like Woolworths, Stuttafords, Gap and Guess.”

When Pearl wants to spoil Thandolwethu her go-to spot is always Polly Potter’s Toy Store. It has an awesome range of toys that are traditional, yet creative and unusual. They’re also safe, which is really important.”

When Pearl wants to zhoozsh up on the home front, Sutherlands is her first choice. “It has really beautiful, quality pieces. I’m into the country, modern vibe which it does so well. I love cooking, especially traditional Zulu food, and when I do, I go all out.”

Her favourite chef is Jamie Oliver and Pearl often trolls the shops in search of his latest gadgets and books.

Tell us about the freshest sashimi in town, the number one place to catch the big game and the accessory spot where you can shop for days … and you could win your share of prizes worth R150 000. Don’t believe us? Here’s what’s up for grabs – three nights for two people at the amazing Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, including flights; seven nights for two people at the fabulous LUX* Ile de la Reunion, including flights; a luxury bush getaway for two at Rhulani Safari Lodge in Madikwe; a gourmet lunch party for 20 people and Clarins treatments every month for a year! This definitely deserves a happy dance. You’ll find the ballot inside Leisure Options (inside this paper this week) or you can vote online at www.bestofjoburg.co.za – what are you waiting for?
