BLAIRGOWRIE – Children at Acres of Love preschool in Blairgowrie were amazed as police officers and pharmacists interrupted their daily routine to give them a mountain of goodies, before playing with them on 23 July.

Acres of Love cares for abandoned and orphaned children in Forever Homes.

This preschool caters for children from seven Forever Homes situated as far as Bryanston.

Dis-Chem Pharmacies provided food, toiletries, other essentials, and toys to all the children and cosmetics to the house parents while Linden Police facilitated the donation.

“It means very much,” said Carole Brown, a teacher at the preschool.

“They included all the things the children needed. They put thought into it.”

Nadia Benefeldt, cosmetic manager for Dis-Chem Cresta, said that the pharmacies wanted to uplift the community by helping the children and showing gratitude to the house parents.

Linden Police operations manager Captain Alex Vermaak said that the police helped in the donation to show the community that the police are not just crime fighters, but are also caring.

“We believe if we can look after today’s young people it will teach them, when they are adults, that it is good to care for someone,” he said.
