Randburg yoga instructor for Mrs United Nation South Africa 2015

FONTAINEBLEAU – Desiree Oliphant is a business woman, fitness instructor and a mother, all in one.

FONTAINEBLEAU – The search for Mrs United Nation South Africa 2015 officially begun as they chose their national delegates in June, and a Randburg-based yoga instructor has found herself in the running.

Desiree Oliphant (40) set her successful career as a businesswoman – working as a sales executive for Metro FM at the SABC studios for almost 20 years – aside last year so she can devote her time to more charitable interests close to her heart.

Oliphant not only has a mind for business. She has also been in the modelling industry for the last 15 years, and a practising Bikram yoga instructor since 2007.

“I’ve been married with a wonderful husband for 19 years, and we have two beautiful children together – Luciano (17) and L’Oreal (13). When I turned 40 in January, I thought it’s time to leave modelling, because now I want to focus on having twins,” said Oliphant enthusiastically. “I know it sounds crazy, it’s true. Now I want to have double the fun.”

She was a semi-finalist for the Mrs South Africa pageant, but did not make it to the finals. She was however, approached by Mrs United Nation South Africa shortly thereafter to participate in their campaign to find the country’s most worthy businesswomen, mothers and wives.

“I made it through all the rounds and was eventually chosen as one of the top 15 women to represent Mrs United Nation South Africa at the end of August.”

She will continue to spread her message of peace and prosperity through the yoga she teaches at the Yoga Republic in Fontainebleau. “I want to work with young boys and teach them to how to become leaders of tomorrow, dependable husbands, but moreover, I want to teach them how to become respectable young gentlemen who don’t take drugs or alcohol, and cares for their society.”
