Emergency rescue show at Blairgowrie Primary

BLAIRGOWRIE – Blairgowrie Primary School hosts helicopters and rescue demonstrations to create awareness.

BLAIRGOWRIE – Helicopter flights and rescue demonstrations were spectacles to be admired at Blairgowrie Primary School on 11 July.

This was because the school hosted an ER24 and Halo Aviation Helicopter and Emergency Rescue Show, inviting the public to learn what emergency medical care service personnel do everyday.

A helicopter took off from and landed on the field, while demonstrations were presented, such as those depicting what to do in emergencies, the inside of an ambulance, and saving a trapped passenger after a vehicle collision with the Jaws of Life.

“It was a good, true-life experience for children so they know what steps to take when an emergency takes place,” said the school’s deputy principal, Pat Oosthuizen.

“They must phone the ER24 emergency number, 084 124. The Jaws of Life demonstration was very good.”

Organiser of the event, and head of aftercare at the school, Leoni Patrocinio, said that the event was organised to “create a community awareness of what these heroes do every day.”
