Randburg police detectives claimed a big victory in their fight against crime when three armed robbers were sentenced to life imprisonment

by the South Gauteng High Court for armed robbery.

Thekiso Shimmy (34), David Ndlovu (28) and Vusi Ndlovu (26) each received 15 years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, and life imprisonment for murder.

The suspects were found guilty of going on a crime spree on 21 July 2012, where they committed two armed robberies in Randburg before proceeding to break into a third property and tied up a domestic worker.

The robbers then waited in the house for the owners to return, eating and drinking whatever they could find while they waited.

When the homeowners returned a few hours later, they were confronted by the robbers.

One of the suspects stabbed a male homeowner, who later died from his wounds.

Household items were then loaded into the homeowner’s car, which the robbers used to escape.

The car was found later in Alexandra by Detective Warrant Officer Frank Nthwala, Detective Warrant Officer Allister Teit and Detective

Constable Wonder Lubisi of Randburg Police Station.

They managed to arrest the three suspects and during an identification parade conducted by Detective Philemon Lekota, the same three men were pointed out by the complainants.

Randburg police would like to thank the members for their dedication, hard work and the commitment shown in their work, and also the complainants for their full co-operation.
