In support of Nelson Mandela Day, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation’s (AKF) Youth Leadership Programme will be embarking on their annual Winter Warm Campaign.

A door-to-door collection drive of non-perishable foods, blankets, clothing and books will be undertaken on the weekend of 28 to 29 June. Distribution of the collected items will take place on 18 July, Mandela Day.

Youth from Sandton and Randburg will form part of the collection campaign when residents can expect to see members of the AKF Youth Leadership Programme on their doorsteps as they embark on the collection.

Previous benefactors of the project include the Aryan Benevolent Home in Lenasia, South African Red Cross Society, the Salvation Army and local families.

The mass distribution for this year will be conducted through disaster relief organisation, the Gift of the Givers.

All volunteers in this project will receive a certificate of participation signed by struggle stalwart, Ahmed Kathrada.
