Old Parktonians invite soccer fans

BORDEAUX - Local sports club is bitten by the world cup season and celebrated it in style.

The Old Parktonian Sports Club hosted their own World Cup opening celebration with a family fun evening.

Club manager Lizette Driescher said they are very focused on soccer and because they had a big celebration for the 2010 World Cup, they felt it would be right to have another celebration for this year’s World Cup hosted by Brazil.

“For the celebration, we had a lot of fun activities for the children with a child minder to take care of them, a DJ was present to create musical atmosphere. There was a sizzling samba demo, indoor soccer for those who want to play soccer, a soccer PlayStation stall, Rio promo girls and soccer action. Everything had a Brazilian theme to it including the prego roll and the traditional South American caipirinha drink or hot dogs and drink for the children,” said Driescher.

The club will be viewing most of the big matches throughout the World Cup and welcomes members of the public to come and join in on the festivity.
