Randridge Mall MTN robbed

RANDPARK RIDGE - Suspects get away with an undisclosed amount of money and several cellphones.

The MTN cellphone store at Randridge Mall was robbed today at around 3.30pm.

According to the store manager, who wishes to remain anonymous, an unknown number of suspects entered the store and tied up the shop assistant in the back of the shop. The suspects, pretending to be customers then grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and several cellphones.

The manager said, ”There were two customers in the store with the suspects when I walked in, also pretending to be a customer. The two customers were unaware that the store was being robbed. I then pressed the panic button and walked out with them.”

The suspects fled the scene and allegedly drove away in a silver/grey vehicle.

According to witnesses the mall security did nothing to stop the robbery. One shopper said, “The security guards don’t have firearms or anything to stop the criminals, maybe that’s why they did nothing.”

ADT Security and the Honeydew police were called and arrived shortly after the incident.

No arrests have been made as yet. Comment from the police and more details are to follow.
