Joburg 10 plus meeting in Ward 96

KYA SAND - Ward 96 councillor Matome Mafokwane met with ward stakeholders and city council representatives on 6 June to discuss ward issues.

The Joburg 10 Plus meeting for Ward 96 took place on 6 June at Kya Sand Industrial to discuss ways to resolve matters affecting the area.

At the meeting Ward 96 councillor Matome Mafokwane spoke to representatives of the City of Joburg’s Land Use, Housing Department, Department of Roads and Transport, Pikitup and the Metro Police, about the urgent action that needs to be taken on various issues.

Mafokwane raised service delivery issues, specifically highlighting the matter of illegal dumping in his area and the need to provide more bins to control the litter.

Metro police acknowledged the challenge they have regarding the shortage of Metro vehicles which should cater for the entire ward.

They promised to attend to issues relating to illegal dumping and infrastructures.

This gave Metro police representatives a chance to also share ways in which they and Douglasdale police, could assist Ward 96 in becoming a safer place.

Mafokwane said he hoped that all matters will be tackled at the start of the City’s financial year which begins in July.

“I want to shake the people in city council up and make them aware of the problems I face daily in my ward. I find it criminal that often the money given to spend on municipal matters is mis-used by council. It is my duty to make sure that they use it wisely and carefully,” he said.
