Curro opens a new meridian school in Cosmo City

COSMO CITY - Curro Holdings Limited will be managing a new school which will introduce an enhanced South African National curriculum.

Curro Holdings Limited is opening a Meridian school in Cosmo City in 2015 which will accommodate grades RR to 10 in its first year and phase higher grades in annually from 2016.

“We have five school models – out of the five the Meridian schools are schools managed by Curro Holdings Limited and jointly funded by Curro and the Old Mutual School Fund. “The Meridian difference: it is an academic focused school with limited sport and cultural activities.” Explained Sherlyn Erasmus, regional marketer at Curro Holdings Limited. The company has taken an interest in building a school in Cosmo City, because it saw a need for more schools. “There are not enough state schools in Cosmo City and surrounding areas; we thus felt it necessary to build one. This will be cost effective for children who would often have to travel far to get to school. Parents should consider sending their child to the meridian school in Cosmo City, because it will offer private school standards of education at a very low price.”

According to Erasmus, the Meridian school in Cosmo City will be mainstream and will offer an enhanced National Curriculum which means, the pupils will write National Senior Certificate exams. Like all Curro Holdings Limited schools, it will carry the same values, teaching its pupils self-worth, career guidance, building character and respect for all cultures.

Erasmus stated that the school will be complete at the end of June. “A principal has already been appointed, but I cannot disclose more details about that at the moment. We will be looking to appoint teachers from July. More details on that will be on our website,” she added.

“We have had a great response from the community as they have been very welcoming. The community has been involved and open with us and we thank them for that, as we have never received this much hospitality.”

Parents who wish to apply for their child for 2015, can download the application letter online or collect an application letter at the Cosmo City library located at the Multi-Purpose Centre.
