White board lessons turn learning into fun

Laerskool Fontainebleau has a new bright way of teaching their pupils which promises to bring great learning experience and a difference in sharing knowledge.

Ingrid Pistorius, Laerskool Fontainebleau’s governing body committee member in charge of academics says, “We have launched the white board system for our school, which is a new teaching technology. The teachers will introduce a lesson, using their laptop and connecting their PowerPoint lesson with the white board.”

The white board has a touch screen technology, allowing the pupils to take part in the lesson by helping their teacher move objects on the board.

According to Pistorius, the school only has five white boards at the moment. “This is to test whether or not the white boards are useful. We will soon put up more but in the meantime, the one’s we have worked perfectly, and we are happy so far.”

Grade 3 pupil Kai Cronjé says he loves working on the white board because it creates a colourful way of learning, and he also gets to take part in the activities in the lessons, and further adds that this is for him the best way to learn.

Grade 3 teacher Martie van der Spuy says her pupils love to interact more when they use the white board, and learn a lot more with it. “There are also fun learning games that come with the lessons and which the pupils enjoy after every lesson. Although they still use their exercise books to do homework, they find the white board fun to work on,” adds Van der Spuy.
