Pupils forewarned against drug abuse

ROBIN HILLS and WINDSOR – Prevalence of drugs in Windsor sparks discussion at Robin Hills Primary School.

Pupils at Robin Hills Primary School received a stern warning from the Life Skills Academy not to use drugs.

Life Skills Academy CEO Danie van Rensburg the speaker, said “Windsor is under siege with drugs” and although the government and police are trying hard, the answer to the drug problem lies with citizens.

He claimed that if everyone said no to drugs, the dealers would leave.

Royston Sanders, departmental head of the senior phase at the school, said that drugs are “rife in Windsor.” The school’s pupils are already aware of this and people must make sure children do not end up on the street as drug addicts.

“Over the years we have had one or two pupils listen to talks but ended up on the streets of Windsor,” he said, adding that past-pupils have also been sent to jail for their involvement in drugs.

He hopes that pupils will learn from talks such as this one, that drugs are harmful and they should not use them.

Flight Centre sponsored drug safety kits – packs of cards with information about drugs – to the children.
