Last day to register

JOBURG – 27 May is the last day that parents can register their children for public schools in 2015.

Today (27 May) is the last day on which parents can submit forms and documents back to schools for the registration of pupils for the 2015 academic year.

Gauteng Department of Education launched the Public School Admissions Campaign on 7 April 2014 to encourage parents to apply early to avoid the last minute rush in 2015.

Parents seeking to register their children for admission in a public school have until today to go to their nearest school to pick up application forms for pupils who want to start Grade 1 or Grade 8 in this province in 2015.

These application forms should be returned to the school as of 15 April to 27 May.

MEC for Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi, expressed appreciation to parents who adhered to the admissions period and applied early.

“We would like to thank all parents for co-operating during the registration period,” he said.

“Your timely response will enable us to ensure all our schools are ready to operate from the first day of school in 2015.”

1.9 million learners attend about 2 000 public ordinary schools in Gauteng.
