Residents stop waiting on City officials for clean streets

RANDPARK RIDGE – Phineas Moremi cleans the streets.

Instead of waiting for the City of Johannesburg to clean pavements and cut grass next to roads in Randpark Ridge, Re/max hired Phineas Moremi.

Re/max Masters, which is based in the suburb, employed Moremi in February last year and he has worked tirelessly. He has not only pulled weeds out on pavements, cut long grass on islands and removed rubbish from pavements,he even planted plants in the area.

He has performed his duty from the corner of Paul Kruger Avenue and Christiaan de Wet Road all the way to the corner of Ysterhout Drive and Randpark Drive.

“It is important to keep the area clean,” Moremi said.

“The municipality does not do it enough. It is easy for me.”

Re/max Masters Sales Associate Matt de Beer said,”The city does clean every now and then but not often enough. When we notice an area becoming bad, we ask [Moremi] to clean up. I cannot tell you how many people have said thanks to us because of him.”
