Come join the fun at the Randburg police open day

FERNDALE – Flee market, prizes, and pole dancing?

Randburg police’s open day, featuring pole dancing and an open crime scene, will be taking place on 31 May.

The event, originally scheduled for 8 March, was moved due to fears of rainy weather, said Randburg police spokesperson Johannes Maja.

The open day will take place at Ferndale High School between 10am and 4pm.

Food stores, a flea market, jumping castles and a “modest” pole dancing competition will be present.

A comedian will be the master of ceremonies and the Gauteng police band will play, as well as other local singers and a “party band”.

A crime scene will be assembled and the person who solves it will win a prize. The purpose of the day is to educate the public, “but in a playful way”, said Station Commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo.

“We also want to tell the community how to be less vulnerable to crime, we want to raise funds and also have fun to strengthen the relationship between the police and community.”

Stalls from different police divisions will be present, displaying what they do. A drama will be presented, educating people about domestic abuse and there will be tours to the station.Other crime prevention educational activities will also be conducted.

Businesses are encouraged to book stalls for the day.
