Ward 114 stands tall after elections

ZANDSPRUIT - Ward 114 councillor is happy to with the election results in Zandspruit.

Ward 114 councillor, Maureen Schneeman is highly pleased with the election results in her ward despite the odds.

The ward currently has 53.57 percent of national votes and 57.29 percent of votes for the Democratic Alliance (DA). The African National Congress (ANC) has 31.08 percent of national votes and 28.64 percent of regional votes, with the Economic Freedom Front (EFF) standing at 9.53 percent of national votes and 9.27 percent of regional votes.

“Other areas in my ward besides Zandspruit have always had high votes for the DA. Despite that, I am extremely pleased with the results for the ANC,” said Schneeman.

Schneeman stated that eight thousand residents in Zandspruit voted for the ANC.

“Zandspruit has continued to support me and I am very thankful to them. I appreciate their votes and am happy with the results.”

IEC Chief Electoral Officer, Mosotho Moepya said the Electoral Commission will continue with the counting and will capture and audit of results for these elections in good time. “We will remain on track to record the highest total number of votes cast for an election in South Africa,”
