Crime warning

RANDBURG – Residents cautioned about smash and grab hotspots and theft out of motor vehicles.

Randburg police warn the public regarding two smash-and-grab hotspots and theft out of motor vehicles, which is prevalent throughout the Randburg police’s area.

Randburg police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johannes Maja said the corners of William Nicol Drive and Main Road, Sandton, and William Nicol Drive and the N1 Highway, Bryanston, have been the sites for multiple smash-and-grab incidents recently, and the public needs to be wary of this.

Furthermore, he said that theft out of motor vehicles are prevalent throughout the Randburg police’s jurisdiction and residents must ensure that they are not targeted.

“Regarding theft out of motor vehicles, we are still appealing to the community not to leave valuable items in their vehicles,” Maja said.

“When using your remote, please test that your doors are really locked [before you leave the vehicle].”
