NSPCA rides the political wave

RANDBURG - Animal welfare made a voting issue by SPCA.

For the last couple of months posters from various political parties have been posted on our streetlights advertising the stance of each of the political parties.

Finding an advantage in the election campaigning, an advertisement company called Hardy Boys placed NSPCA posters underneath the bland posters to advertise the plight of the animal organisation. The party leaders’ posters were extended with the bottom half  showing them holding various animals.

According to NSPCA spokesperson Christine Koch, elections are generally a time when South Africans reflect on issues that are important to them. “Our aim with this campaign is to remind voters that the welfare of all animals should be one of those issues. Jobs, economic empowerment and the environment are tremendously important issues. But we believe strongly that how a nation treats its animals is as important. It’s a measure of the country’s maturity and compassion.”

So next time you are driving around your suburb give the SPCA a thought if you want to adopt a furry friend that will stand by you no matter what party you vote for.
