Google pays homage to South Africa’s 5th democratic elections

RANDBURG -The company's iconic logo is transformed for elections with the second 'g' fashioned into a ballot box wrapped in the South African flag. This 7 May search page will mark the day in web history and will be added to Google's Google Doodle Archive for future reference.

As voter’s across the country wake up and head to the polls today, online service provider Google is honouring the country’s fifth democratic election since 1994 with an original Doodle on it’s South African search site.

The company’s  iconic logo is transformed for elections with the second ‘g’ fashioned into a ballot box wrapped in the South African flag.

This 7 May search page will mark the day in web history and will be added to Google’s Google Doodle Archive for future reference.

A Google Doodle is an artistic version of the Google logo appearing on the homepage with regularity since the year 2000. The logo is customised for special occasions including holidays, birthdays of world leaders and other historical events

A few weeks ago Google also  featured a customised logo for Freedom Day.
