Voting gets its funny on

RANDBURG – Finally some fun among all this serious poll business.

With all the serious hype around the provincial and legislative voting happening on 7 May, a few candid pranksters have decided to add some humour into the mix.

These strange yellow posters have been popping up in around Beyers Naudé Drive recently that say things like “JZ secretly votes D.R.O.L.” and “D.R.O.L. The smell of freedom”.

The worst is “D.R.O.L. Is nie poef nie”.

What is “D.R.O.L.”?

D – Democratic

R – Resistance

O – Opposing

L – Liberation

But in Afrikaans, “drol” means “poop”.

There is a clue on each of these mysterious posters. A website address can be found at the bottom of these posters  takes you to the site of the proudly South African Stefan Nieuwoudt movie, Ek Joke Net 2.

The film follows a group of candid camera pranksters (Hannes Brummer, Yolandi Malherbe, Solomon Cupido) that refer to themselves as Comical Actors Commission or, as they abbreviate it, K.@.K., while they prank people of all shapes and sizes around South Africa when they least expect it.
