Open day success

BORDEAUX SOUTH - The resident's association came together with the community to enjoy a fun day in the sun.

The Bordeaux South Resident’s Association hosted residents at their open day at the Bordeaux South Park on the corner of Park Avenue and Main Street on 13 April.

Ward 102 committee member and chairperson of the Bordeaux South Residents Association, Elinor Bodinger said the open day was not only for the residents of Bordeaux to come and enjoy the day with them at the park, but also for other suburbs too.

“The event was a huge success, bringing together the community in a day of fun in the sun and good food, and also gave residents a great opportunity to get to know each other. Residents relaxed on the grass, listened to music, enjoyed the variety of culinary options, and got to meet the residents’ association committee and Ward councillor David Potter,” said Bodinger.

She stated that the residents’ association has completed numerous projects in the area which have helped improve the way Bordeaux South looks. With the monthly fee paid to the association by residents who are members, the park, roads and security of the suburb have all been improved.

Bodinger said that although 250 residents were part of the association, she hoped the open day encouraged more residents to join so that Bordeaux South could improve.

“We cannot do anything without the help of residents. We therefore ask that they help us to help them. Being a part of the association would be the first step,” she said.

Bodinger stated that the result of the event was a great bringing together of the community, and encouraged a sense of pride and belonging to the suburb.

“All in all, it was a huge success that brought in more volunteers to help make Bordeaux a better suburb.”
