Coca Cola to commemorate 20 years of freedom

JOBURG - One of the world's most well-known companies will launch a commemorative event to celebrate 20 years of freedom.

As South Africa celebrates 20 years of democratic freedom as a “rainbow nation”, Coca Cola is preparing a commemorative gesture this week to celebrate the milestone.

According to Sharon Keith, of Coca Cola South Africa, this company will put up a rainbow display in the Johannesburg CBD using nothing but sunlight, water and a little bit of magic.

“We are very excited to have discovered a way to create actual rainbows by capturing the sun at specific angles through a mist of recycled water,” Keith explained.

She added that the aim of the commemoration was to remind South Africans of their heritage and to create a symbol that shows the diversity of the country.

“We also wanted to celebrate the fact that as a nation we have come so far. Coca-Cola aims to inspire moments of optimism and happiness, and rainbows can do both of these things,” she reckoned.

The event will take place in the CBD during the course of the week. Coca Cola is the world’s largest beverage company, providing consumers with more than 500 sparkling and still brands.

Additionally the celebrated company is the No. 1 provider of sparkling beverages, ready-to-drink coffees, juices and soft drinks. Some of the most well-known drinks produced by the company include Coca Cola, Fanta Orange and Sprite.
