The water pipe channeling rain water to residents in Cosmo City and Honeydew is being replaced.
The pipe runs alongside Boundary Road in Honeydew, where the work has started.
“It takes rain water from two dams to people to use in Honeydew and Cosmo City,” explained Onismas Mphela, the health and safety officer for Mapitsi construction company which is installing the pipe.
“It is replacing an old pipe. The old pipe did not have any problems, it was just old.”
Joburg Water spokesperson Millicent Kabwe could not comment about the pipe and she said it was not the department’s project.
Ward 114 Councillor Maureen Schneemann was asked about the pipe but did not respond by the time of going to print.

I think in future they must be the way of better communication between the residence and the construction cimpany. So that we might have choice , because traffic is getting worse there everyday and no information to let us know what is happening and when will it be finished.

I too think residents should be notified when municipal work is done. I found the lack of communication about this specific work also troubling.
