Irish Club celebrates

Can you say Slante? It's the buzzword on St Paddy's day.

It’s that time of the year again, when a few Irishmen and thousands of Boertjies, Germans, Bulgarians, Zulus, Xhosas and even Brits converge on the Irish Club to celebrate St Patrick’s day.

The common denominator, as usual, is that dark sinister gift from the gods and unique Irish ingenuity to concoct beverages that is loved by all and sundry. ‘Tis Guinness, the real stuff!

Copious amounts will no doubt be consumed, along with other less famous brands of all derivatives and descriptions. The ever popular DJ Warren will enhance the festivities with a wide range of music to suite all tastes.

St Patrick’s Day is on 17 March. But not everyone wants to celebrate on a Monday, so festivities will kick off the day before.

The gates open on Sunday 16 March at 10:00am and the same time on Monday. A good spread of eats will be available to line the stomachs of Guinness gulpers.

To add to the crazy hats and other paraphernalia, tattoo artists will also be around to put your good looks into the picture. A proven and effective security contingent will be deployed on the day to protect the party goers.

Their brief is also to uphold the normal Irish Club standards of zero tolerance for drugs and unbecoming behaviour.

“We really appreciate the tolerance of the neighbourhood for living with our exhuberance this time of the year,” club manager Mick Desmond added.
