Rea Vaya offers Park and Ride for Brazil soccer match

JOBURG - Rea Vaya Bus Rapid transit system will provide Park and Ride services for the Mzansi versus Brazil soccer match at the FNB Stadium.

The City of Johannesburg has announced that Rea Vaya will provide services including Park and Rides to soccer fans attending the South Africa vs Brazil match on 5 March.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) Kingsway Road student parking is among the Park and Ride facilities that will be operational from 5pm to 11pm.

Other Park and Ride facilities include the City of Johannesburg Metro Centre, Constitutional Hill, Westgate Shopping Center and Indingilizi Transport Interchange.

Entry to the Park and Ride facilities will be on a first-come-first-served basis at a fare-inclusive cost of R50 for the driver.

Other passengers at the Park and Ride will pay R13 for a single-trip card and R25 for a double-trip.

Smartcard holders will pay normal fares based on the distance travelled from their initial point to the FNB Stadium.

Rea Vaya buses T1 from Thokoza Park (Soweto) to FNB Stadium will be supported by feeder routes F1 (Naledi) and F2 (Protea Glen) to Thokoza Park as well as complimentary C1 from Dobsonville to connect T1 at Orlando Stadium.

Commuters from the inner city can use T1 from Ellis Park to FNB Stadium. Yeoville F11 buses will connect at Joburg Theatre Station where either T1 or T2 can be used to the stadium.

The T3 buses may be used, after which fans will connect T1 from Thokoza Park at the Orlando Stadium Station to the FNB Stadium.

Those who will use T3 buses that travel from Library Gardens through Milpark, UJ Kingsway, Westbury and Noordgesig will connect T1 at the Orlando Stadium Station to the FNB Stadium.

Buses will operate at five-minute intervals from 3pm until 7pm (kick-off time).

After the match the service will run every three minutes until 11pm to transport fans from the stadium to Thokoza Park, Protea Glen, Naledi, Dobsonville, Ellis Park, Bosmont, Westbury, Auckland Park, the inner city, Parktown and Yeoville.
