An active ward councillor

Vagrants will soon have trouble in Ward 104.

Ward 104 Councillor Mike Wood wants the public to know he is being active in trying to remove vagrants from his ward.

Victims and residents have blamed vagrants for a spout of violent muggings on and near Rabie Street, where it goes under the N1 Highway in Malanshof.

Wood’s ability to relocate vagrants revolves around him being able to put pressure on the police to enforce bylaws.

“I sent a letter to the Metro police and I am surprised they said they are not aware of it,” Wood said.

“This has been a long-standing issue. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to working with the new acting deputy director of the Metro police, Mike Smith. I look forward to the ward councillors building a relationship with him to sort out issues in our wards.”

Smith responded and said, “I think the ward councillors play a big role in service delivery and I too look forward to working with them.”
