False meter reading
City Power claims to have taken a reading from a metre that was removed months ago.
Although Ferndale resident Elsa Kriegler changed to prepaid electricity, City Power still sends her bills with a meter reading.
Kriegler said, “I made the change to prepaid on 18 October 2013 and the meter was removed. So where do they get this meter reading from? I have been to City Power’s offices and one of the staff members told me, ‘Oh, you see, they do not really read the meters’. Now it’s February and I still receive electricity bills. And I am not going to pay these bills.”
Retha Karsten of City Power said Kriegler should contact the entity and furnish her account number and prepaid meter number, and City Power will deal directly with her.
