The Northcliff Rotary Club launched the final phase of its water and sanitation project at the Emthonjeni Community Centre in Zandspruit.
Altogether 20 prospective food gardeners were taught the skills of vegetable and herb gardening. Trainers Jacob Maduna and Themba Phiri shared their wealth of knowledge on the art of planting and harvesting vegetables, how to grow and dry herbs, and the healing qualities of herbs.
Each student received a set of gardening tools and were assigned a patch of ground at the centre to hone their new skills.
Joint Aid Management facilitated the training.
Ansie Hibberd of the Rotary Club said they looked forward to watching the seeds of this amazing project grow.
