Public invited to attend Isidingo star’s funeral

Family of Lesego Motsepe prepare for the actresses funeral.

The film and television industry mourns after the death of renowned South African television and theatre actress and former Isidingo soap star Lesego Motsepe (39) died in her flat in Randburg on 20 January.

According to spokesperson Lorato Tshenkeng, from Motshepe’s talent public relation’s company Oresego Communications, there is no confirmation of her cause of death. ”Once there is, the family will decide if they wish to share this with the public,” said Tshenkeng.

Prior to her death Motsepe had declared to her friends and family that she was HIV positive. After leaving Isidingo she continued her career in acting, doing theatre productions, writing poems and singing.

However, her biggest commitment was being a motivational speaker. She worked as an activist, and an ambassador of the Fezile Dabi HIV/AIDS benefit programme. ”She would run workshops and motivate others to not let their stigma affect them.”

Tshenkeng states that Motsephe may have never taken antiretroviral drugs, but she was a health freak who kept a very healthy diet.

”Motsepe will be remembered for being a channel of hope, no matter what condition one would be in she would motivate them to have hope.”

The funeral will take place at the Brynston Methodist Church at 10am on 25 January. All members of the public who wish to attend are more than welcome to attend the church service.
