New teachers at Ferndale High

Ferndale High School principal is proud to introduce her six new teachers.

The six new teachers who have joined Ferndale High School are looking to introduce a fresh angle to learning.

The school’s new principal Bahiya Manuel said, “It’s always difficult for new teachers to get jobs as the schools are often looking for a teacher with over two or more years experience. I wanted to give the young professionals a chance and I wanted new teachers because they come with innovative ideas, as well as the latest technological ways of educating the pupils.”

The new teachers are Ndumiso Maseko, Sibusiso Chonno, Qudusija Cassim, Vusi Malevu, Evelyn Fisher and Dewald Lourens.

Manuel believes that having the new teachers in her school may also inspire the pupils to follow their dreams.

New Grade 8 and 9 teacher, Maseko said his first day was busy. “The pupils are in for a great year with me,” said Maseko. “I am very flexible in the classroom, I’m not into the traditional way of teaching as I like to incorporate technology and real life situations when teaching.”

Lourens, the new Grade 10 and 11 tourism teacher and Grade 9 Afrikaans teacher said he would make his classes as fun and as interesting as possible.

Manuel hoped that having new teachers would improve the academic standard of the school and create a positive impact on the school’s community.
