It’s a wrap, Honeydew police officer retires

Police officer calls it a day after serving the force for 38 years

While working at the Honeydew police station, Lieutenant Joseph Molale was described as a humble and dedicated police officer.

He joined the police force in April 1975 and is now retired.

“The lieutenant was a very self-disciplined officer who always set an example for his colleagues,” Honeydew Police Station’s communications officer Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said of Molale who went into retirement in December.

She added that Molale was a loyal officer who would always go the extra mile to ensure his goals and those of his colleagues were achieved. “In total he had 38 years, 235 days service in the South African Police Services.”

Molale began his police training at Hammanskraal SAPS Training Centre. During his career he was involved in several different departments, including client services, detective services, summonses, crime prevention and internal investigation. He worked as an investigating officer at the Soweto Police Station before moving on to the murder and robbery unit. In 2011 he was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to Honeydew Detective Services.

The lieutenant is a married father of two daughters and has one grandchild.

“He always committed himself to create a safe and secure environment for the community,” concluded Jacobs.
