Security agreement at complex

Resident will wait two weeks to see whether her complaints will be taken care of at the Randburg Sport Complex.

Malanshof resident Priscilla Cramb and representatives of the city council came to an agreement at a security meeting at the Randburg Sports Complex in Malanshof.

This followed a meeting Cramb and Ward 104 Councillor Mike Wood had with the staff of the sports complex in Hans Schoeman Street.

Cramb said security personnel did not patrol the complex properly. ”Why are vagrants entering through a hole in the fence then?” she asked. “Why do I as a resident have to report the hole in the fence? Whenever I walk past the complex I just see the two security guards sitting… and talking to each other.”

A city council representative who was not allowed to talk to the media was at the meeting. However, the representative told Cramb he was at the complex every day and the security guards were appointed to guard municipal property and they have patrol rules they must adhere to. The representative said the city council was unaware of the complaints and promised to look into the matter.

He also mentioned crime at the complex had dropped by 80 percent since security was appointed.

Cramb accepted the council’s offer to look into her complaints within the next two weeks.
