Merry Christmas Ward 104

Councillor Mike Wood thanks residents for a successful year.

Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood highlighted his achievements and challenges in 2013.

“Another year has gone and it is good to reflect back on the past,” he said. “For me the most exciting achievements that we achieved was the upgrade of the intersection of Bond and Main avenues in Ferndale. This was a particularly dangerous situation and was a source of great concern to me. My thanks and appreciation goes to the Johannesburg Roads Agency for the work done.”

Wood added that residents associations were starting to play a more proactive role in the ward. “The challenges in front of us are indeed daunting, but we can curse at the darkness that surrounds us – the darkness of crime, poverty, unemployment lack of service delivery, or we can be the light that shines and brings hope. The question that we all have to ask ourselves is ‘Will we be that light?’. A light that brings hope to the people of our ward and ultimately to the city.”

He wished all the residents a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. “I look forward to working with you all and taking our ward to even greater heights.”
