Retailers to be closed on 15 December to honour Madiba

JOBURG - Make sure it’s not your local store if you plan on doing your shopping on Sunday.

A large number of chain stores and retailers will not be opening their doors on Sunday.

Checkers, Shoprite, Clicks, Builders Warehouse, Game stores and Woolworths have stated that they will remain closed to honour Madiba’s funeral which will be held at Qunu in the Eastern Cape. This is so that staff can spend Sunday with their families when the whole country will be in mourning.

If you are planning to do your shopping on Sunday, check online if your preffered venue will be open. Pick ‘n Pay has stated that they will be open, but that they will donate a portion of profits made on the day to a chosen charity.

Ster-Kinekor has also announced that they will not be screening any movies on Sunday.

All of these retailers said that they will be operating as per normal again on Monday, 16 December.
