Linden police have top-notch staff

Local officer scoops national award.

Linden Police Station spokesperson constable Ndivhuwo Mulamu was third runner up in the Best Frontliner category at the National Batho Pele Excellence Awards on 15 November. The awards seek to honour public servants who have performed exceptionally in their respective fields.

Linden police support head Lieutenant Helen Harmse said Mulamu met all the criteria for a Frontliner nominee for showing impeccable service and dedication when interacting with the public. According to Harmse, Mulamu demonstrates principles of good governance and leadership, prides herself in excellent service delivery, and continues to improve in her area of operation.

“She is outspoken and cares for other people. A people’s person, Mulamu has a good relationship with both the community and her colleagues and is involved with a lot of community projects,” Harmse said.

Mulamu received an iPad, an undisclosed amount of money and a scholarship to an institute of her choice in South Africa, the United Kingdom or United States of America.

Mulamu said she had not yet decided where and what course to study she will take, as she is currently completing her diploma in public relations at UNISA.

“I am in my second year of studies and took it upon myself to learn more about the role I play in the police force. The theory I learn through my course helps me improve practically in my job,” explained Mulamu.

She believes being nominated by her colleagues for the award means that the community recognises the work she does. She said she is humbled and honoured.
