City Power failure

City Power fails to do their work properly.

Linden resident Giel Oberholster logged the same complaint with City Power several times before it was attended to.

According to Oberholster, there had been constant power fluctuations in Maid Marion Avenue. “Two days after this problem, there were then severe recurrent power failures especially at night followed by high power [spikes],” explained Oberholster.

City Power spokesperson Sydney Mphahlele said City Power arrived on 14 November to fix the error and was able to stabilise the power supply. Oberholster added that although the power has been stabilised, the cables hanging across the power lines in the street are now a hazard.

“The cables that were replaced are not aligned. I believe this was done typically by somebody who either does not have the correct tools, or

does not have the time nor the pride in their work,” stated Oberholster.

Mphahlele said City Power will attend to the matter, and he insisted that residents must report matters relating to City Power, get a reference number and follow up with their reported cases.
