Philosophy in Ferndale

New Acropolis hosts renowned Israeli philosopher and photographer Pierre Poulain.

Philosophical and humanitarian organisation New Acropolis hosted renowned photographer and founder of New Acropolis International, Pierre Poulain on 3 November.

Poulain travelled from his home in Israel to attend the Photo & Film Expo held at the Coca-Cola Dome from 31 October – 3 November.

A lover of art and nature, Poulain aims to share his talent, skill and knowledge with others who share his passion. His one-day workshop at the organisation’s premises in Ferndale dealt primarily with the love of art and photography, and the way in which they can be blended to create one single entity.

“I had always been keen on finding the link between harmony, beauty and geometry. I soon realised after I had studied the concept of philosophy that this could be possible. This influenced the way I did my photography and live my life,” Poulain explained.

Founder of New Acropolis South Africa Guy Hazon said, “It is an honour to have Poulain here to give the workshop. He trained me when I was in Israel and has been the person who motivated me to start the organisation here. Through his workshop I trust he will leave others inspired”.

According to Hazon, New Acropolis is more than just an organisation; it is a way of life. “We teach people about the knowledge of philosophy and how it can be used in their lives. Most of the work we do is through art programmes.”
