Volunteers clean streets

Windsor residents determined to keep their suburb respectable

The Windsor Action Group (WAG), in conjunction with Pikitup, carried out a major cleanup in Windsor East and Windsor West on 21 September.

“The people who cleaned are residents who volunteered to help. We are taking on one street at a time and I make notes of what I think is necessary,” said WAG chairperson Louise Mynhardt.

The clean-up started at the Windsor Recreation Centre in Viscount Street and volunteers split up into two groups. One group went to Windsor West and the other made their way to Windsor East.

As the cleaning progressed bystanders stopped and joined in. “This day is to emphasise if we work together we can make a difference. We want to get Windsor back to its original state,” said Mynhardt. Pedestrians thanked the cleaners for their hard work and Pikitup collected the bags on the various street corners.
