Pikitup unable to collect rubbish again

Residents suffer as waste entity's workers embark on another strike

Johannesburg’s waste management company Pikitup is still haunted and slowed down by labour relation issues with it’s workers.

Service interruptions have been caused by a go-slow at the Randburg Depot since 17 September. Pikitup spokesperson Desiree Ntshingila said, “Areas that are affected are Kensington B, Ferndale, Malanshof, Randpark Ridge, Fountainbleau, Robinhills, Windsor East and Glen, Cresta, Cosmo City and Kya Sand.”

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck added, “This weekends collections in my ward will be disrupted so I urge residents to be patient until the issue has been resolved.”

It is still not clear as to how long the strike will last. “Management is engaging with Pikitup workers to resolve the matter,” concluded Ntshingila.

Details: Pikitup 011-375-5555.
